All of us look at money with differing perceptions. Some see money as a key to survival; some see it as a getaway from all troubles of the world, while some are obsessed with it.
In reality, survival needs are minimal, but given the maddening influence of the social media platforms, people want a perfect life to ‘showcase’ it on their social walls. This demand for money drives you to take jobs, wherein you can earn big money—irrespective of whether you are passionate about the work or not. Two-wheeler, four-wheeler, home, and world tour, become the milestones to gauge your success. You keep on chasing money, while recklessly spending on worldly things.
Once a milestone is achieved, you have little time to enjoy it, as you have other errands to run to reach another milestone. All this while, you choose to stay in a highly stressed position, leaving little room for health and happiness. So, even if you are able to ‘tick’ all the criteria from the ‘things to achieve before forty’ list, you have reached nowhere in terms of happiness.
This brings us to the question—Can money buy happiness?
No.
Money can buy things and experiences that can make bring us happiness, but that is momentary.
Is the Money-making Chase in Vain?
The sole purpose of making money is to enjoy what you get out of it. If spending money doesn’t give you pleasure, rather leaves you miserable of having spent it, you are doing it all wrong. Also, if you are constantly worried about money even on important occasions in your life, there’s no value that money is adding to your life, other than the branded clothes you dawn and the branded car you drive.
The money-making chase is because of the belief that it has been deeply ingrained within our society that more money is a success. However, in reality, the balance of all walks of your life is the real success. When you don’t enjoy your professional life and still work for it, you are taking 9-10 crucial hours of your day hating yourself.
Is the money that brings self-hate worth it?
You decide for yourself. Whether you want a perfect life worth displaying it on social media or you want a peaceful life, wherein you give equal attention to all the aspects in your life.
What are the Tips to an Ideal Life?
First of all, you need to get rid of the ideology that money is essential for making your life easier. Don’t stress yourself over money matters, when it matters only to some extent.
Take some time out for yourself and decide what you want out of your life; not in terms of materialistic stuff but regarding passion. Once you know what makes you happy, do more of it. Paint more, sing more, write more, construct more, and the list is endless. When you are happy doing what you like, you create more opportunities to be happy.
That’s how a perfect life looks like.
